Hi, I’ve reached out to Eus but haven’t heard back. I’ve seen photos from the Dive Center and it looked like just superficial damage. I’ll update this page and Facebook as I find out more.

So, I have in my notes $125 for Yamille and $75 for Armando as minimum tip amounts. Is that what y’all think?

Here is my update:   1. It was HOT.  I installed a wall fan in the palapa.  Its not my first choice (it’s a little smaller than I want and its white – if you’ve noticed the ones at Taverna that’s what I was going for) but it moves the air which is crucial.  If you turn it on (it has a simple pullstring) please try to remember to turn it off before you go to bed. 2. The sargasso barrier is largely cosmetic, but that doesn’t effect Mayanah much.   They installed it about 200 yards too far South to block the sargassum coming in on the prevailing summer current.  I paddle boarded out to it and the sargasso was actually piled up on the inside of the barrier and one evening the current shifted and pushed it all ashore.  For some reason La Buena Vida and their hotel are choosing not to clean up the sargasso and the restaurant smells pretty bad.  3. VAN:  I got the back seat fixed so it goes down normally.  Armando was out so a visiting worker moved the seat forward and it wouldn’t go back to its original position.  Eus got it to a mechanic in Chemuyil and it seems to be operating normally.  I still think it needs to be handled a little gently.    The rear hatch sometimes struggles to close all the way when you used the automatic closing button and needs some physical force to shut all the way.  On the plus side, that van is still such a positive.  It’s so much easier to drive around in and park and costs about ¼ as much in fuel usage. 4. I changed the batteries in the safe – whoever is going down next should probably buy a pack of AAA’s and leave them next to it. 5. The restaurant across the street is pretty good (although hot) and they have a guy playing live music on Saturday nights) – it’s an outpost of Ultimo Maya from the Pueblo. 6. The woman who gives massages across the street is good.  Her name is Criss and is reasonable. 7. Bicycles: the bikes are all running great – Armando swapped out the cranks/bearings/pedals on one of the blue ones and now they’re all reliable 8. I bought a new paddle for the paddleboard – it’s in the locker room. 9. There was a key on a black rope left in the van – I left it in the big bowl on the buffet.
